Tarrif & Payments

Tariff for all services related to tourism in Bhutan are fixed by the Government of Bhutan which are consolidated into a package and charged on per night basis. The package comes with all meals; private transportation regardless of destination/sightseeing spots, govt royalty, all necessary taxes, agent's handling charge and all other necessary logistic arrangement.

The tariff for tourists visiting in a group of 3 persons or more are as follow:

High Season tarrif
US$ 250 per person per night (March, April, May & September, October, November).

Low Season
US$ 200 per person  per night (June, July, August & December, January, February).
 Note : Rates are the same for cultural, treks or any other special tours.

Surcharge
Individual tourists and  smaller groups (FITS) of less than three persons shall be subjects to surcharge as below :
Single Individual: US$ 40 per person.
Group of 2 person: US$ 30 per person per night.
These FIT surcharges are net payable (non-commissionable).

These minimum daily rates are inclusive of following services :
  • Bhutan Government Royalty of US$65 per night per person
  • Twin sharing hotel Rooms at 3 star hotels approved by Royal Government.
  • All Meals at 3 star hotels
  • English speaking tour guides
  • Refreshments (tea,coffee and snacks)
  • All transfers and sightseeing/treks/tours within Bhutan
  • Riding ponies and pack animals on treks
  • Trekking equipment and haulage for trekking tours
  • All entrance fees to museums and monuments
  • All internal taxes and charges
  • Mineral drinking water

The following is not included in the daily tourist tariff:

  • Visa fee US $40 each (must be paid in advance with tour cost).
  • Airfares (optional)
  • Travel insurance (recommended but not available in Bhutan)
  • Excess baggage charges.
  • Other personal expenses, calls overseas, laundary, etc.

Discount on Tour Prices:

  • There shall be no charge for CHILDREN up to the age of 5 years. However, those between the age of 6 to 12 years accompanied by elders/guardians shall be given a 50% discount on daily rates.
  • Full time Students below the age of 25 years holding valid identity cards from their academic institutions shall also be given a 25% discount on daily rates
  • A discount of 50% on daily rates shall be given to one person in a group of 11 to 15 persons.
  • A 100% discount shall be given to one member in a group exceeding 16 persons.
  • A discount of US$32.5/person/night from 9th night and a discount of US$65/person/night from 15th night.

Bhutan - Thailand Friendship Offer 2014

Bhutan and Thailand enjoy strong ties of bilateral relations. A relation built on a foundation of a shared spiritual heritage, respect for the institutions of Monarchy, and reverence for culture and traditions. This year the two friendly countries celebrate 25 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

On the occasion of the birth anniversary of His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck on 21st February 2014, the Royal Government of Bhutan presented “Bhutan-Thailand Friendship Offer” to promote people-to-people contact in commemoration of 25 years of a continuing journey in friendship and fruitful bilateral cooperation.


The Offer will include the following :

1. Visitors can choose not to pay the mandatory minimum daily package rate. Instead, the Government will only levy the daily royalty of US$ 65 per person per night.

2. Drukair & Bhutan Airlines will offer 50% discount on airfares.

3. Hotels will offer discount upto 50%.

4. Flexibility of choice of services.
